FAQs

Cardamom. You’ve seen it in your kitchen. Sipped in your tea. Tasted it in that one perfect bite. But what do you really know about it? This little pod changes everything. So, let’s answer a few questions that might’ve crossed your mind… and a few that’ll change how you see cardamom forever.
What is Emperor Akbar’s Aroma-Lock Pack and why is it important?

You know that beautiful burst of aroma when you crack open a cardamom pod?

That’s the natural essential oil inside and it is what gives cardamom its magical aroma.

But here’s the thing: that cardamom oil is volatile. It evaporates fast if not protected.

That’s why we use Emperor Akbar Aroma-Lock Pack.

It seals in the freshness, protects the cardamom oil and makes sure every pod you open feels rich, sweet, and flavorful.

Just the way cardamom should be.

Why buy branded cardamom when loose is cheaper?

A brand is a promise of quality, consistency, hygiene, and traceability.

Emperor Akbar Cardamom is carefully sourced, scientifically graded, and hygienically packed to lock in its natural aroma and purity.

With a trusted brand like Emperor Akbar Cardamom, you know what you’re getting every time: uniform size, strong aroma, clean pods — no surprises.

That kind of standardisation is hard to find in loose cardamom.

It’s not just about the price. It’s about the payoff in every pod.

How does Emperor Akbar Cardamom stay fresh for so long? Are there any additives added?

No additives. It is 100% Natural. The way Mother Nature made it.

We, at Emperor Akbar Cardamom, start with freshly harvested pods, process them just right, and seal them in Aroma-Lock Packs to protect their natural oil, because that’s where the real flavour lives.

Those essential oils are what give cardamom its punch, and we do everything to keep them inside the pod, not drifting away.

The secret isn’t additives; it is care. We take care to make sure that you get cardamom as nature intended: fresh and aromatic.

What is GI Tag? Is Alleppey Green Cardamom really better? Does origin affect flavour?

Absolutely, origin matters when it comes to flavour.

Alleppey Green Cardamom is grown in a region with the perfect soil, altitude and climate to naturally boost its essential oil content - that’s where the aroma and flavour come from.

This isn’t just local wisdom — the Government of India has officially recognised this region and its unique growing practices by awarding it a GI Tag — a Geographical Indication Tag.

The GI tag is like a badge of origin, authenticity, and quality — a seal that says: “This is the real thing.”

This means that it has more cardamom oil, which means more aroma, more flavour.

That’s why Emperor Akbar Alleppey Green Cardamom isn’t just different. It’s the best cardamom in the world.

Why are there different colour packs of Emperor Akbar Cardamom? Why do we have Purple, Pink, Green, Orange, and Red Packs? Is the flavour in them different?

You’ve probably noticed our colourful packs — Purple, Pink, Green, Orange, and Red.

These aren’t for show — they help you easily identify the pod size inside.

Emperor Akbar Cardamom is graded based on pod diameter, not the length. So, on the basis of the pod size, we pack them in different colour-coded packaging for easy identification. We pack the pods that are 8mm & above in diameter in our Purple Packs, pods that are 7.5mm & above in our Pink Packs, pods of 7 to 8 mm diameter in Green Packs, 6.5 to 7.5 mm pods in Orange Packs and 6 to 7 mm pods in Red Packs.

Is the flavour in them different?

The flavour of cardamom comes from the oils inside the seeds — and that doesn’t change with size.

What does change is how many seeds are inside each pod.

Bigger pods mean more seeds. More seeds mean more oil. More oil means more flavour.

So yes — small or big, the flavour is the same. But you’ll get more of it from a bigger pod.

Choose the size that suits your use — you will get the same signature Emperor Akbar aroma.

Which grade of Emperor Akbar Cardamom should I use for what?

Different grades of Emperor Akbar Cardamom are suited for different uses — and it all depends on the pod size and how you plan to use it.

For daily home cooking, desserts, or special occasions, choose our purple, pink, or green grades. These have larger pods with more seeds, so you get richer aroma and flavour.

For commercial use in grinding, blending into spice mixes, or flavour infusions — our orange and red grades are ideal.

Different sizes. Different uses. Same premium quality.

Whatever the use, you're still getting premium, aromatic Emperor Akbar Cardamom.

How do I store Emperor Akbar Cardamom to keep it fresh?

Store it in the same pack it came in — our Emperor Akbar Aroma-Lock pack is designed to retain the natural aroma of cardamom. Make sure that you close the resealable pack every time after you use it.

Keep it in a cool, dry place, and away from heat and light. For bonus freshness? Keep it in the fridge. Every time you open the pack, you’ll feel like you just bought it.

Why is the colour of cardamom fading over time?

The natural green colour of cardamom comes from the chlorophyll in the husk — just like in fresh green leaves. And like all natural pigments, it fades over time.

But here’s the key — fading colour doesn’t mean fading flavour.

The real test of freshness is in the aroma.

So, store your cardamom right. Store them in our Emperor Akbar Aroma-Lock pack and away from heat and light.

That way, you’ll get full flavour till the last pod.

Why aren’t all the cardamom pods in the pack the same size?

The cardamom industry uses sieves to sort pods based on their diameter, not their length. So when you look at the pods, don't go by how long they are, look at their roundness or thickness. That's what decides the grade. And like all natural products, a little variation is normal. Up to 10% size difference is an industry accepted norm. Having said that, the real hero is aroma and flavour. And that's always consistent with Emperor Akbar Cardamom.
