We collaborated with Shimi’s Kitchen to create a simple yet refined Cardamom Black Coffee that brings together the boldness of coffee and the delicate warmth of cardamom. With Emperor Akbar Cardamom lightly infused into the water before brewing, this cup gains a fragrant depth that softens the intensity of black coffee without taking away its character. The result is a clean, aromatic drink that feels comforting, balanced, and quietly uplifting. Ideal for slow mornings or a focused midday pause, this recipe shows how a small touch of cardamom can transform a familiar cup into something more memorable.
● 1 cup water
● 1 to 2 tsp instant coffee, or 1 shot of freshly brewed black coffee
● 2 Emperor Akbar Cardamom pods, lightly crushed, or 1/8 tsp Emperor Akbar Cardamom powder
● 1 to 2 tsp sugar or honey, optional
Bring the water and lightly crushed Emperor Akbar Cardamom pods to a boil, then let it simmer for 2 to 3 minutes so the flavor has time to infuse. Strain the cardamom water into a cup, then stir in the instant coffee until fully dissolved, or add the freshly brewed black coffee directly. Sweeten with sugar or honey if desired, then serve hot. The cardamom adds a fragrant lift that makes the coffee feel smoother, warmer, and more inviting.
