Elaichi Milk Tea by Shimi’s Kitchen

We collaborated with Shimi’s Kitchen to bring you a comforting and fragrant Elaichi Milk Tea, a classic chai that blends the richness of milk with the warmth of tea and the unmistakable aroma of Emperor Akbar Cardamom. Simple, familiar, and deeply satisfying, this recipe turns an everyday cup into a more elevated ritual. The gentle sweetness, creamy texture, and aromatic depth make it ideal for slow mornings, evening pauses, or any moment that calls for something warm and grounding. It is a beautiful reminder that the smallest additions can bring the greatest character to a cup of chai.

Ingredients

     1 1/2 cups full-fat milk

     1/2 cup water

     2 tsp black tea leaves

2 to 3 green cardamoms, lightly crushed

2 to 3 tsp sugar, adjust to taste

Method

Add the milk, water, and lightly crushed Emperor Akbar Cardamom pods to a saucepan and bring it to a gentle boil. Once the mixture begins to warm through, add the tea leaves and sugar, then simmer on low to medium heat for 3 to 5 minutes so the tea develops a rich, creamy, and fragrant character. For a stronger brew, allow it to come to a gentle boil once or twice more, letting the cardamom deepen the aroma of the chai. Strain into cups and serve hot, preferably fresh from the stove. For the best flavor, lightly crush the cardamom just before adding it, so the fragrance stays vibrant and full.
